I'm a British contemporary artist living in Portsmouth.
My paintings are realist both in style and subject matter. Previously, I have concentrated on people as a theme but my current work is focussed on places where people have been. I am interested in evoking the atmospheres I encounter in many of the castles and forts around Portsmouth, where I recently moved. The atmospheres that intrigue me are often bleak, austere and most of all empty. I like the feeling of past entities that can linger in a place. It is these ghostly, imagined or sensed atmospheres that I am aiming to communicate to viewers of my work.
